Children of Mount Soma -- The Amos Family

1247 pages, 6 x 9", hardcover, acid free paper, indexed.

Family history of William and Ann Amos of Baltimore County, Maryland - the part set out into Harford County in 1773. He was in Baltimore County in 1715 then he purchased 200 acres of land, a part of Clarksons Purchase. He came from England before 1715, died 1759, was buried first at Mt. Soma and later moved in 1915 to Little Falls Monthly Meeting House (Quaker) established by his son William Amos, the Quaker.

They registered their children (six sons and one daughter) in St. John's Parish Church Register at Joppa (Church of England). The book follows the life and times of the family down to current generations. Descendants live throughout the U.S. and are in all kinds of professions, many with distinguished careers.

Research on the six sons was pursued by various descendants, who graciously shared their work to make this publication possible.

The author is accepting additions and corrections. Already, 300 pages have been compiled. Will make some copies, but cost is a factor.

In August 1995 Harford County purchased 68+ acres, of the original 200 acres, including the houase and barns. The original stone structure of the house exists, but the additions, dating to 1830s is in bad shape. Planned is a park, hiking, biking, horsebacking riding, wildflower gardens etc.

There is some talk of trying to save at least the stone structure of the original house. Anyone wishing to contribute to restoration of Mt. Soma please let me know.
