There is a part of the book for each of Johann Engel's children and their descendants through twelve generations, plus an Allied Section on spouse's families. Each family is followed as thoroughly as information was available, relating family history events to the broader context of local and national history.

Johann came from Germany (his past and ancestry are discussed) to Montgomery County, PA and his descendants fought in Revolutionary War and all other U.S. Wars (records of service are covered). His children stayed in PA, but grandchildren scattered throughout U.S. populating the west, building churches and schools and serving in nation's wars.
