350 pages, 6 x 9", hard cover, acid free paper, illustrations, photographs, indexed.

Thomas Hutchinson of Lynn, Massachusetts. and Southold, Long Island is identified here as a son of widow Anne Hutchinson who had five children by her Hutchinson marriage between 1618 and 1630 and married secondly Adam Hawkes of Lynn, and died there in 1669. There were other Hutchinsons among the early New England settlers, but with no relationship to this family. Thomas Hutchinson married in 1663 at Southold, Martha (Corwin) Case, and four children were recorded of this union, the eldest being Thomas, Jr., who was born in 1666. Southold in eastern Long Island was settled by English migrants and at first was attached to Connecticut, while western Long Island was almost wholly Dutch and a part of New Netherlands. The descendants of Thomas Hutchinson of Southold now are located throughout the U.S.A., with large concentrations in New York City, upstate New York, South Carolina, Maryland, Connecticut and other New England states. Male Hutchinson descendants together with many female lines are carried down to the twelfth generation.

Families allied by marriage include the following: Berresford, Boisseau, Case, Conklin, Cooper, Corwin, Davids, Davis, Dayton, DeLancey, Dickerson, Edwards, Fincke, Floyd, Floyd-Jones, Gardiner, Goldsmith, Halsey, Havens, Horton, Jones, Landon, Miller, Moore, Mulford, Nicoll, Norton, Overton, Packard, Tuthill, Wells, Wheeler, Woodward, Woodhull, Worth, Youngs and many others.
