The mass of genealogical and biographical material included in this volume represents more than a quarter century of time, plus thousands of miles of travel, plus many, many hours of meticulous work, plus the financial subsidy of its editing and publication by my great-uncle, Stephen B. hunter and his wife. During my first reading of his book, I noticed some erros and at once began to accumulate corrections for what has become this second edition. I did not do much genealogical research myself, but did contact many persons in various branches of the families concerned, offering them the opportunity of making corrections or up-dates.
