King Family Genealogy -- Isaac King & Mary Hankins King

1352 pages, 8 1/2 x 11", hardcover, photographs, indexed.

This massive genealogical study of the King family begins with the earliest known ancestors, who were Protestants living in the Flanders area of Europe. Their Flemish name was DeConnick which means King in English. In 1679, they came to America, seeking freedom from religious persecution. These early family members are discussed first, although the main focus of this book is Isaac King and his wife, Mary Hankins, and their ten children; Thomas, David, Peter C., Allen H., Mary Jane, Ichabod, Valentine, Aden D., Charles, and Sarah Elizabeth. All of them, but Charles, who died young, married and had children. Their lines are followed in this work, beginning with a section on Thomas and his descendants. During the mid-1800s, the family lived in Fayette and Lee counties, Ohio and Appanoose and Taylor counties, Iowa. Extensively researched, this book contains many lineage charts, biographies, maps and pictures. Any King descendant can quickly trace ancestry by generation back into the 1500s.
