Alexander Lovell Genealogy:

The Ancestors and Descendants of Alexander Lovell of Medfield, Massachusetts 1619-1709

905 pages, 7 x 10", hardcover, 264 illustrations, 64 page index

This book covers four generations of the English ancestors of Alexander Lovell the immigrant and eleven generations of his descendants in America. Alexander was a first settler of Medfield, Massachusetts in 1649. The appendix contains some of the descendants of Alexander's brother Thomas of Ipswich, Massachusetts.

The Register System of numbering is used throughout the work. The book contains a list of the illustrations and of the abbreviations used in the children's entries and the source notes.

All known descendants bearing the Lovell name are recorded along with the numerous families the Lovells married into. Generally the Lovell daughters, their husbands and children are fully covered in their accounts, carrying the children down a generation or two when this information was known.

This has been a three generation project begun by my grandfather around the turn of the century. It was continued by my father from the 1930's to the late 1970's and completed by the author after twenty-five years research, making this a one hundred year undertaking.

Along with research in the different areas of the United States, including numerous trips to Salt Lake City, my research included three trips to England.

This genealogy is the winner of the Grand Prize in the Connecticut Society of Genealogists 2001 Literary Award Contest.

Some surnames found in the book are: Adams, Black, Blanchard, Brown/Browne, Campbell, Cary, Clark/Clarke, Cope, Daniels, Davis, Dickinson, Eames/Ames, Fairbanks, Fisher, Gould, Hartwell, Hatch, Houghton, Lyon/Lyons, McKillop, Miller, Morse, Partridge, Phelps, Putnam, Richardson, Royce/Rice, Sargent, Shafter, Smith, Spaulding, Stone, Taylor, Walker, Williams, Wilson, Workman and others.
