The book is divided into family group sections rather than chapters. The entire text was typewritten by the complier. There is a section on the MATAU Family, and a MATAU & POWELL Family photograph section. Other family sections are the TREST Family of South Carolina and Mississippi, and the ULMER Family of South Carolina and Mississippi. Included are many source references within the text, and an appendix that includes copies of source documents relative to lineages. Also, the book has a bibliography. It is a good reference book for early 19th century and early 20th century research. Especially for those researchers whose ancestors were living east of the Mississippi River and in the state of Missouri.

The first section describes a brief history of Romania. An overview of Romanian History 82 B.C. to 1990 A.D. Romania is located in southeastern Europe, and is approximately the same area size as the state of Oregon. Romania being the paternal ancestral home of the compiler, where the complier visited in 1970, and may be of interest to those of Romanian descent and others.
