As I searched original records at North Carolina Department of Archives and History for any clue to the parentage of my ancestor, Daniel W. Campbell, I came across many accounts of others whose family trees are also firmly rooted in Richmond County.
This exciting new material is compiled to make public certain records likely to assist in the advancement of genealogical research. Most records are abstracted from a variety of legal settings (e.g. court records, estate settlements, school records, wills, tax, land, marriage, and cemetery records, etc.) Included also are photographs, maps and personal letters. All records are arranged in chronological order (when possible, depending on the placement of certain graphics) to aid in identifying individuals in relation to a specific time and place.
Copies of original documents such as newspaper clippings, letters, etc. have been "computer cleaned" in an attempt to present interesting legible graphics, while taking care to maintain the integrity of each copy. The original use of capitalization has been retained with minor punctuation added for clarity.
