There are 200 John Statons along with many Josephs, James, and Thomases. The Statons have been inordinately fond of a few first names, using them over and over through the centuries.

The author using his own researches, those of other Statons, and many genealogical sources, has tried to list every person with the last name of Staton, or its variant spellings in the entire United States.
