618 pages, 200 illustrations, 18 chapters and 29 appendices. All fully indexed.

Nearly all Hubbell/Hubbel/Hubble/Hubels in North American descend from Richard Hubbell who settled in Connecticut in the 1640s. The book discusses the military service of the Hubbells who share this common ancestor and surname. The book provides a description of all Hubbell/Hubbel/Hubble/Hubels service men and women for which a record (official or unofficial) was found by the author. Each chapter discusses a major period in North American history as follows:

Each chapter is further divided into three parts. The first part typically describes uniforms and equipment, food and cooking, recruitment, pay, pensions, discipline and training. The second part discusses major events, actions or battles in which Hubbells participated. The third part of each chapter is an alphabetical list of each Hubbell family member that served in the military during the period covered by the chapter; their service number, period of service, organization and a description of their service. Appendices provide more details about individuals as contained in letters, articles, pension extracts, diaries, testimony, written experiences and reports.

This book is one of a series of histories published by the Hubbell Family Historical Society.
